It’s Like a Novel
I recently found a novel. It was a western by the award-winning novelist, Louis L’Amour. I noticed it was tattered and torn as I picked it up. It described four men in the scorching desert, fantasizing about water and food as buzzards circled overhead.
It sounded desperately grim for these characters. I then flipped to the last paragraph of the novel. There, I found a setting that the author had conjured of tranquility with a fresh, flowing river.
There is no doubt in my mind that the characters from the beginning of the novel had faced much hardship in between the first and last paragraphs of the novel. However, at the end, the author had delivered them out of all their afflictions to a conclusion of peace.
It’s unrealistic to always expect a Walt Disney fairy tale ending in our lives; however, I am convinced that not every problem is permanent. It is too easy to get stuck in the tyranny of the present and forget that the temporary setbacks will soon fade into the past as the next chapters of the story are written.
Sad chapters are written into everyone’s lives; but, there are also chapters of victory and joy. Never give up because of an unexpected plot twist that brings you to tears in your life. More chapters are coming. www.abundantgp.com • 780-532-0649
