Why Should I be worried about my Magnesium intake?

National Health and Nutrition examination surveys showed that significant numbers of adults do not consume the recommended amount of magnesium per day.  This is largely due to the fact that magnesium rich foods such as almonds, beans, and seaweed are not common in the average North American diet.  As well as commonly consumed “fast foods”, and carbonated beverages drain the magnesium in our muscles.  Adults who take supplements are more likely to meet the dietary requirements than those who do not.  But it is important to take the correct magnesium supplement, which will give your body the most elemental magnesium with minimal side effects.

Why use Magnesium Glycinate instead of other forms of magnesium?

Magnesium glycinate is easier on the bowels than other forms of magnesium.  Magnesium oxide tends to firm the stools ( causing constipation), whereas the chloride, sulphate, and citrate forms tend to loosen stools (causing diarrhea).  In addition to being easier on the bowels, magnesium glycinate is absorbed better than other forms of magnesium.  It is in fact up to 5 times more absorbed by the body than magnesium oxide.

What dose of Magnesium Glycinate should I take?

The dose of Magnesium you need is specific to YOU.  Talk to one of our pharmacists to find a dosage of magnesium glycinate for your body, and how it will fit in with any other medictions/supplements you are taking.
